Does this mean I see smaller? A telescope maginfies, so this is what it should mean?

When someone is accused of "looking through the wrong end of the telescope", this is an idiom meaning that they are not considering the situation in the best way...instead of seeing the positive aspects of things, they are emphasising the negative ones.
It's a bit like the half-filled glass...is it half full or half empty? The optimist will see it as half full and the pessimist will see it as half empty.
