Jeffrey Archer, in his Shall We Tell the President? wrote: "He had already found a hundred and one things to do since he'd been back, …". I figure "a hundred and one things" here means many things. Do I guess right? You're highly appreciated if you'd be kind enough to help me to clear it up.

Yes, something along the lines of, 'a lot of things plus one'.
One hundred and one is used to convey a large amount, as it's ONE MORE than a hundred (1001 and 1,000,001 are also used).
