The sypnosis is that of a man who gets drunks, falls and cuts himself on a witch's grave (which he doesn't realise until later).

He slowly turns into a vampire, but isn't actually aware that this is what's happening at first. As the story progreses, he slowly reaalises and tells his heart-rending story.

I've not read the book myself, but my mother has and I'd like to buy it for her as a Christmas gift.
