Now that the nights are drawing in I feel like settling down with a good book. I quite fancy an enviromental distaster novel set in the present or future. Any ideas would be appreciated
Have you read Day of the Triffords? That's very good.
Also I liked The Time Machine.
Z for Zacherier (There's no way in hell I've spelt that right) is interesting but is a childrens book I think.
100 Years of Solitude is great but not really enviromental disaster exactly. Does deal with the decline of an area though.
I'm fairly sure Ian Banks writes some Sci Fi stuff under Ian M Banks, I'm not a big fan of things like that but he's a very good writer and i've a friend who says his Sci Fi stuff is ace so maybe give him a look up?
Have a look at 'The Chrysalids' by John Wyndham..........actually, most things by him are very good; The Kraken Wakes, The Midwhich Cuckoos; The troublw with Lichen; The day of the Triffids.........
File cutter, thanks for the John Christopher suggestion. I've just ordered "A wrinkle in the sun" plus "100 years of solitude" and "The Kraken wakes" that the others suggested. I can't wait for them to arrive so I can get started on them!
Thank you for the tip jocon. I'm half way through the second of the books I ordered, so will soon be on the look out for new reading matter and they both look like very interesting reads.
