Is it possible (or more to the point safe) would it be to paint or ink with actual oil like you use in cars. I just wondered if I could capture the beautiful shiny rainbow effect you see when it mixes with water.
Any help would be greatly apreciated : )

Cheers!

try it and see..
have you ever tried marbling?

you get a shallow box and fill it with water....
and drop small amounts of marbling ink in it. (you could try it with car oil)..
then get a piece of glossed paper and lay it on the surface of the water, leave it for a bit then SLOWLY lift it off.
the oil covers the surface of the gloss in the same colours and patterns you can see in the water...

: )
i just realised you posted this about a year ago... oh well.
