It was brilliant, wasn't it? Why not read the books now but don't expect the TV series storyline to follow the text too closely!
I missed the last episode. Do you know if it's repeated?
They're usually repeated at 5.50pm on the following Sunday.
Thanks DSJ.
Cranford
Lady Ludlow
and a third I dont know

al available on project Gutenburg for free

The odd think about reading the books is that you will see that the plan is shifted for the 2007 audience

In Lady Ludlow - the Land Agent is so mortified at her mortgage that he leaves his estate to defray it
and SHE says, no i can't do that, itshould be the boy's

I dont know why it is put around a different way for our sensibilities - presumably to make it more believable

but does anyone believe that Cranford really existed ?
Elizabeth Gaskell based Cranford on Knutsford, Cheshire (about 14 miles south of Manchester) where she lived with her husband who was a Unitarian Minister.
She wrote about the minutae of country life at that time, especially that of the women of the village.

The last episode is being televised on Sunday at 4.40.
