Should I bother reading this?
9 Answers
Hi there.
I have a copy of James Bradley's The Resurrectionist and was looking forward to getting my teeth into it however, I have been reading the reviews on Amazon and everybody seems to be slating it.
Have any of you good ABers read it and if so what did you think? Should I bother reading it?
TIA x

I have just given up on "The American Boy" by Andrew Taylor. I loaded it on my iPOD and have listened to the first 3 CDs (of 16). I really really cannot get on with it, no coherent plot, just ramblings. Yet all the reviewers rave about it. I hate giving up on novels, but it is wasting my life trying to enjoy it!
War and Peace was another I ditched.

bednobs I do NOT decide which books I like by seeing if others have enjoyed them. I was merely asking about opinion, a trait that is obviously not individual to myself as can be seen by the many review sites here on the web.
Gormless, like you I hate giving up on books and have trudged my way through a few which I have not particulary enjoyed but (to paraphrase) I've started so I'll finish. I am however getting to the point where life is too short to waste time on books that are tripe when there are so many great ones still to be read.
Hope your read/listen is better.

I did exactly the same with The Resurrectionist, it sounded right up my street and then like you I read so many bad reviews I wondered wether it was worth starting.
I had others to read so it's been put on the back burner for a while and is still in the cupboard, if you read it before I do let me know what you think!
