Volume 1 by Liang Shih-Chiu, I read this a while ago and thouroughly enjoyed it.
But where is volume 2 and are there other books available by him to read in English?

This song features in one of the stories "The Good Women Of China" I think it was a woman who waited 45 years for the man she loved, in vain.

Oh yeah!
I had to think for a minute there, of course that was only 25 years...
I love that Good Women of China book - borrowed it from a friend's mum and I've recommended it to lots of people.

Itr was sad in parts and really made me appreciate how much we have to be thankful for.
25...? You saying he was indecisive or something, everton? To be fair it was just 24...! ;-)

You're right Swede (whoopsies).
Cath as small boy I was in and out of hospital, so the first story was very poignant to me as hospital was the only place I could get some peace and quiet so therefore was'nt so bad.
I liked the analogy that women are like sponge cakes, I've translated that to English as saying that women are like black puddings, LOL.
She's done another book "China Witness" which is in a similar vein (slightly better I feel) you can see how she has matured as a writer in it.
Of course that may be because I'm a man and it focussed less on sex and things and more to do with social climate of post revolutionary China.
