A man becomes a vampire when he falls and cuts himself on a witch's grave (he doesn't realise this at the time). He slowly becomes a vampire without actually realising this is what's happening at first - he becomes sensitive to light, has a penchant for raw meat. I think he commits himself into an asylum - as much for the public's protection as for his own sanity. Anyway, the story's told from his point of view and it's meant to be really heartwrenching.
