older childrens book about astral travelling

there was this girl and she could go astral travelling, although it was a bit of a surprise to her and she had to get used to it. she was afraid of going astral travelling in case a spirit would enter the body she had left and she would not be able to get back to her body. im talking 25 years ago.... anyone know the book im on about?

That's what I was going to say - I loved her books when I was a teenager and I recently read Who Killed My Daughter, the true account of her daughter's murder. I don't normally read that type of book but I was curious as I was familiar with the author - it was very interesting and quite tragic.
