Ive read the Harry Potter and Twilight series' and love them, I'm wanting something similar to read. I think it was the fact they were fantasy set in the real world that interested me, is there anything anyone can recommend?

Alan Garner. the Weirdstone of Brisingamen, the Moon of Gomrath, Elidor, The Owl Service....set in the 1960's rather than today but excellent reads
Or the Phillip Pullman trilogy - not really set in the real world, but definitely links to the real world in the first book and in the underlying messages. Loved the Alan Garner books when I was young.
garth nix is pretty good
I loved the Percy Jackson books.
Also the Power of Five Books (4 so far - 5th due soon, I hope) by Anthony Horowitz.
Try Scott Westerfeld's 'Uglies' series or the Charlaine Harris books.
