Would my G/daughters (4 & 6) like Roald Dahl's 'Georges Marvelous Medicine' there is a production on at our local theatre soon, I don't want to book if they are too young for it.
I don't know the story myself.
These productions are usually written with young children in mind - there will be a lot of children there and it's a great introduction to theatre.
4 and 6 is younger to be reading GMM than many kids I've known, but if they're mature enough to enjoy the books then they'll be fine with the production.
Oooo Its not their intro to the theatre sax, they go 3 -4 times a year & have done since they were 2 years of age. Also have performed in various theatre's in a well known dance group.
What I was worried about Is it scary? I know some of his stuff is, I don't want their mother telling me they've had nightmares.
(Although when I took 'em to see "The Gruffelo" it was me that had the nightmares )
GMM isn't scary - it's one of Dahl's more absurd books and very funny. I think they'll love it, but if you're worried, nip into your library and have a wee read of the book. It's not long.
Thanks folks, Yes I've been on to amazon & ordered the book & a couple of others, When they have their sleepovers we'll cuddle up and enjoy the books together,
The production is on at the theatre I work at soon. The company are very good - if you get a chance see their jungle book touring later on this year. My boys loved it (years ago) but they love all Dahl books
