herbert beecroft

i have found a herbert beecroft painting of jesus his signature sits at the bottom left of the painting their is no other visible markings .I was wondering how i would know if it is an and original`

From the limited picture's of Beecroft's work I can find on the internet, it appears that he painted in oils. If so, simply holding the picture at an angle to the light, to see if the brush strokes are present, will tell you whether it's an original work or a print.
