Anyone know of a 'book group' where you can download audio books - if they had print too that would be event better

You can download free audio books from your local library.

Gutenberg also has ebooks in all sorts of formats providing they're out of copyright so that's pretty buch anything before 1900

check ebay...you can buy disks with thousands of books on for just a few pounds
