I recently wrote a book about my husband who died of leukaemia a few years ago. It is about 50,000 words and is only really intended for family and close friends but at the moment it is in the form of loose typed sheets. I would love to get it published properly with photos - I wouldn't need very many copies, but I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Do you have it saved on a computer anna?
If so you can send it to a printers.. Here are examples but there are others. I haven't used them so cannot recommend, just suggesting.

Start with a literary agent. This website is as good a place as any to fine one:

Lulu.com (definitely not lulu.co.uk) can print a single copy, via print on demand techniques at less than £10 (for a typical book).

I have done it – they (the books) look very professional – but you need to submit the complete book (including cover artwork) correctly formatted for the page size, margins etc in pdf.
There are plenty of small printers who will do this, but before you start be aware that it is very expensive. It is known as Vanity Publishing. If you want it to be published properly and sold in bookshops you will need an agent as bookbinder says.

Thanks for all your answers. I will try some of those websites. Yes Maidup, I do have it on disc but I haven't chosen photographs yet so I still have a little way to go.
