Leading on from chaptazbru's thread about the best books you have read, what are the worst.

Mine are The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, what an absolute boring load of twaddle, this is closely followed by We Need To Talk about Kevin, which I am struggling to get through at the moment and Animal Farm by George Orwell, this I had to read at school and felt like crying everytime I was sat in my English Class.

Zebo, I think that's the problem with the Kevin book, I read to enjoy and this is definitely one you can't enjoy, I almost feel like I'm eavesdropping on uncomfortable conversations. Can't wait to finish it and be one with it, it doesn't help that I inadvertantly read a spoiler and now know happened.

That should read, know what happened.
Chaucer was also pretty grim.

Though there are some buried gems:
* The greatest scholars are not usually the wisest people.
* People can die of mere imagination.
* Women desire six things: They want their husbands to be brave, wise, rich, generous, obedient to wife, and lively in bed.
lord of the rings trilogy. i loved the Time Travellers wife, film didnt do it justice, but many films dont......
Rocky - I made a rare trip today to the nearest place where I can get English language books. And I bought We Need to Talk About Kevin as I have seen it highly recommended. I do hope I don't find it all that bad!!
Harry Potter and the Forest of Embarrassment or Harry Potter and the Tree of Nothing (courtesy of Stuart Lee - see below, a bit rude....)
It would have to be a Barbara Cartland. I only ever read one - simply because I thought I ought to read something of hers - but the name of it, for some strange reason, escapes me. As few pages as it contained, I really struggled to find the patience to get to the end of it. It went straight down to the charity shop.

Bambia, don't worry, I think I'm in the minority with this one.
sadly, Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake - the last of his Gormenghast Trilogy - which is as near to unreadable as I've ever found a book.
DT - I loved Chaucer. The language was a barrier, but once you got your head round it, he was amazing!

And Point 3 of your bullet list - what else does a man need to know in life?
The worst has to be Sunset Song by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. We did it for higher English but never even finished it because it was so boring!

Animal Farm was another one I had to read for school... It was awful.

Sidkid, that's funny. Lol.
Oh and I'm the only person my age I know of that hasn't read the Harry Potter books. No appeal whatsoever.
I love Harry Potter.
I agree divegirl, Dark Towers was appalling, and I've been a King fan for over 30 years.
Naomi, I tried Barbara Cartland when I was in my teens. I'd forgotten all about her. You do try and blank out the worst things in your life, though.

And Sidkid - hilarious (I hate to admit now to having read Harry Potter, but I have read William Blake as well.
I don't carry on reading them if I don't like them, so I can't remember any.
there have been some that i picked up and put down, one currently is
Gullivers Travels, no idea why i can't really get into it at all.
