Mystery/Thriller book recommendations..?

I'm after some good Mystery/Thriller, quick/easy to get into reads, please..
Have you any recommendations?

It depends on the sort of thing you are looking for, I enjoy reading M.C. Beatons Agatha Raisin books, the first one being "Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death" - our Agatha has made a fortune in PR and sells up her business for a fortune and buys a cottage in the Cotswolds and tries to settle down to life in a village. Needless to say it doesn't turn out the way she thinks and ends up as the main suspect in a murder and the only way to clear her name is to solve it herself. They are nice and light and quite easy to get into, there's a fair few in the series but it might be best to start with the first. I also have a soft spot for Lindsey Davis's Roman Detective Marcus Didius Falco there are a few in this series as well the first of which being "The Silver Pigs" so there should be more than 20 titles between these two authors which might suit. Hope this helps.

Try going back to some older books. Try Helen McInnes. Still reread her books. Neville Shute. Brilliant.

There's also Agatha Christie, titles in abundance, or my personal favourite Dorothy L Sayers. You could also try Quintin Jardine's books, I prefer his Skinner novels. My daughter has also suggested Tess Gerritson's Rizzoli and Isles books, I never see her these days as she seems to be working her way throught the entire Rizzoli and Isles canon.

Nungate, I've just seen your Lindsay Davis recommendation and agree, the Didius Falco books are excellent, if you like history mysteries you might want to look out for Paul C Doherty, a local author, he has many different series of books, mostly mysteries, medieval, egyptian. Definitely worth a look.

Good thriller writers are Peter James, Peter Robinson and as others have mentioned Harlan Coben, Lynwood Barclay and Gregg Hurwitz. If I have a book on the go by any of those, I'm a happy bunny ! I'd recommend Or She Dies by Gregg Hurwitz or The Woods by Harlan Coben.

Noo, I'm not into history thrillers, it's got to be modern day stuff.

I did read a Linwood Barclay book a few years ago, I think it was 'No time to say goodbye' - I wasn't overly impressed.

I've just finished a Mary Higgins Clark - 'I'll walk alone'
It was good, once you'd accepted it was a bit far fetched! But it was a real fast paced, page turner, I couldn't put it down, and read it in a day.

I've enjoyed a few of Martina Cole's, but they get to be a bit same old same old, so I've had enough of hers for now.

Your recommendations are greatly appreciated, thanks alot, and I'll certainly be checking them out! :o)

Lynda LaPlante writes some excellent stuff, I've read most of her stuff and only been disappointed once (She's Out).
