When I read the words war, slavery it made me think of the books I used to read years and years ago - Frank Yerby novels. They may be frowned upon in some Literature Circles but I found them easy and quick to read, and probably more importantly his books gave me the desire to read plenty of other books by other people.
But whatever you read, enjoy it!
Hello ! If you are looking for a series of books, you could try Wilbur Smith. One of his series follows the story of a family ( the Courtneys ) across Africa and Europe from the 16 th century up to the 20th. Plenty of adventures, pirates, wars, love stories...and it's quite easy to read. I find them addictive and have read almost all of them! He's written others sagas as well ,and they're equally good. Happy reading !
