I've recently seen the exhibition from Oslo via my local Arts cinema. I didn't know much about him apart from The Scream. I was struck by similarities to the work oF Edward Hopper - lonely people in a world of their own. Anyone agree with me?

I'm afraid I can't agree with you. Some of Hoppers brushwork and vivid colours are redolent of Munch, but the subject matter and styles are completely different. Hopper is a realist whereas munch is representational. I was lucky enough to see The Scream and a few other works at MoMa in New York earlier this year.
