Anglo-Saxon Verse

Does anyone know where these lines are from:

Here in fierce fight
Fell fifty foemen,
Weapons well wielded'
Worthy sons of Odin.

The reference to odin is bothering me - to a Saxon this would be 'Woden', however Anglo Saxon poetry was only written down in the Christian era and named references to heathen gods weren't included. Could it be from one of the icelandic sagas?

Thanks, Mosaic. An Australian friend asked me about this. He remembers reading these lines in a Warner's History book in school in Glasgow in the 1950s. I'm afraid that's all I have. I've tried an amended search using "Woden," but to no avail.

Why not google Norse Mythology poetry? I did and there appears to be several possibilities . That's if the mention of Odin is correct.

Thank you, Grandma Yiddo. I had already consulted Mr Google but could not trace the the verse I sought. I suspect it may be out of reach; it is pretty clearly an inscription on a battlefield stone that has been quoted in the book my friend read many years ago.

Ah well, he slipped up with his Odin and Woden. The rest was very convincing!
