Novels About Working Class England1800S

Apart from dickens, could you recommend a novel which gives a good picture of life for the working class in the 1800s. I am doing a family tree and would like to better understand living conditions. my family lived in birmingham, but there must be similarities with other cities. Thanks.

Not a novel, but a very interesting factual book about Leicester's slum clearances in the 1930s. However, the houses were built in the mid- to late-1800s and lived in by working class people from that time. I know because my own Victorian ancestors lived in them. Lots of photos, maps and references.
