The one I can't do without is "45 Master Characters" by Victoria Lynn Schmidt. I have several and will look them out tomorrow, although there are MANY around. Unfortunately some of them are pants!

And it seems a wee bit obvious, but a decent dictionary, thesaurus and grammar/punctuation-type guide are invaluable!
