I think the Hamish Macbeth books are set in the sixties, though I can't be sure.
I always thought the series is set in the 1970s. The Death of a Nag features a double glazing salesman and I think this puts it after the 60s
Could well be. I only said 60s because the books have a kind of 'Heartbeat' feel about them.
I've just read in Death of A Nag that DCI Blair was nice to the singer of Steel Ironside despite remembering that one of their hits in the early 70s was called Burn the Fuzz. I'd say it is set in the late 70s, early 80s
A reference to Saturday Night Fever in Death of a Charming Man :D

Ahh ok. That's brilliant!thankyou x
M.C. Beaton seems quite keen on death.
She writes cosy mysteries about murder, not what you'd call gritty. Rattling good stories that aren't too taxing, and great central characters.
Many cosy mysteries are set in a world of nostalgia. Famously Christie couldn't work out if Poirot novels should be set in the contemporary world (50s or 60s), or between the wars.

Am really enjoying it. The fashion has now come into it and is heading towards 70's At least- discos, girls with leggings with straps under the feet.....
Leggings with straps under the feet were definitely 60's - I had some!
^^Mid-60's - there is a photo of me wearing some.
