Can anyone recommend a good self-help book about dealing with anxiety? I would prefer one which isn't all 'new-age'y but that looks at cognitive behaviour therapy and is quite common sense. I've got 'don't sweat the small stuff' but that doesn't really explore the problem. Thanks
I have an excellent book called "overcoming anxiety" by Helen Kennerly, its not a threating size, it has a programme you can follow and its sound cognitive advice and recommendations. I even used to carry it around with me for emergencies!
This may be a bit clinical, but you could try 'Psychology:The Science of Mind and Behaviour' by Richard Gross (Hodder & Stoughton). It won't contain any life-changing solutions, but it's very informative on the causes of anxiety and devotes a lot of attention to the cognitive processes of the mind. Remember, Knowledge is Power. Hope it helps to develop further awareness of your own mind. xx
