In Scotland it means - Head the ball and has a couple of meanings.

We use it here in the North West too.

It means that in SoT as well Goalie. If Heid is head....... but if heid is used for hide then it means something else entirely. I gave one reference to illustrate that something is not quite right is all( with a link). Still not been back I note. Just have to wait another 4 years.
