Does anyone know of a play or an opera set during the French Revolution and featuring a guillotine ?
This has nothing to do with a Tale of 2 cities, by the way.

Les Mis?
No, that wasn't set in the French revolution, was it? I can't remember.

All I can think of is The Scarlet Pimpernel - but I'll keep thinking.
I thought the French Revolution was 1789-94, whereas Les Miserables is an adaptation of incidents that occurred in Paris in 1832.
Ça Ira is Roger Waters' opera about the French Revolution, which features an execution scene in Act 3.
Flonska, I realised that after my original post - hence my follow-up at 16.54.
Thinking of the Scarlet Pimpernel reminds me that although not an opera or play, there is, of course, the film "Carry On - Don't Lose Your Head" set in the time of the French Revolution with those wonderfully named characters, Camembert, Bidet, Duke de Pommefrite and Sir Rodney Ffing a.k.a. the Black Fingernail!
Haaa! Love it!! I do so love 'daft'!!
Naomi . . . my post was not a criticism. Being on slow broadband speed, I don't always receive "instant" notification of updates on posts. Your follow up was not showing when I hit "answer now." :-)
No problem. I didn't take it as such.
Thank you ;-)
:o)
