The Odessa File I read in one sitting - about 8 hours, most of a night. Otherwise if it is just of moderate length and interest but determined to finish it, about a week. I read at least 2 hours per day, and always have 2-3 books on the go at any one time.
I like to read in the same way as mycatis does but only manage a couple of hours a day if that when I'm working 9-5.
I did read Great Expectations in 3 days, Nostromo 3 days,, Da Vinci Code 2 days, Ulysses 2 weeks, LOTR 2 weeks. I think I've read 60-odd books this year.
Wild Swans is taking me weeks to get through but I'm enjoying it.
I read whenever I can. mostly will read in the bath or when feeding the baby and have even bought a glass table for the kitchen. I tell my kids it's rude to read at the table, and obviously, they have to put their book away when it's dinner time, but sometimes when I just need to go on, I put the book on the floor, take my socks off so that I can turn the pages and hold the book open with my foot! The kids didn't know I was 'reading at the table' until recently when I had to stop when i put the dinner on the table and saw all these books under it hehehehehe!
Sometimes the book really decides for me and I have had to go out for a drive through and get my eldest to read me the book while I drive...the food is because I've been too busy reading to do any cooking.
Is it bad for the kids??? Don't hink so; they are all avid readers now too!
