My new wee cottage https://imgur.com/eZQyJ6B

Nearly there - there are trees behind but the problem is there's a whopping great yew or leylandii behind the right chimney that goes nearly the whole way across....and if that's included. then there are a mass of more normal trees to the left.......am pondering whether to or not, my feeling is that they may intrude....

Next is a wonderful Victorian clock tower, just outside the front door too, well 20 metres or so.

Superb DT, as always - hope you are settled there.
Really nice, DT. I’d just do a bit of dark shading behind the house to make it jump out a bit. My pencil set came from Amazon today (A3 drawing pad and fancy shaped erasers day before) but.....the pencils are unsharpened and I’ve no sharpener or sharp knife!
DTC - Wow! What a talent. The detail is amazing.
Thanks for sharing. :-)
Excellent, DT :-)
Zacs - Is this a new hobby for you, or are you experienced?
Well, I went to art college for 4 years but not really attempted any ‘art’ for a looooong time.
You can use artistic license DTC I would buy a copy if you print them.

Zacs - it's just that the yew, or whatever it is, is so dominant! I may lightly pencil it and the other trees to the left to see what it could look like.....No joking when I say all the white could be infilled with 'wood' such the foliage behind.

I have plenty of others already set up for print, my Cornish long house for instance. Think I put this one up some time ago... https://imgur.com/n8J7gWd

Thanks for the comments though from all of you...
Don’t let it be too literal. The light trees might work but you could end up detracting from the wonderful detailing in the building.
Zacs - Was / Is your job anything to do with your art qualifications?
Jeez, DT that’s amazing and it demonstrates what I’m saying about letting the building speak for itself.
The hardest part of art is knowing when to stop....a sky rather than trees?
Question Author
that's exactly what I am thinking....it's all pretty dense behind. Where did you go, Zacs - for me it was school teachers (two of them, the second one on life drawing) and then I trained with Leonard Fuller in the St. Ives School of Art - mainly in holiday time.
Theland, I was lucky enough to be accepted onto a Fine Art BA course at a well respected college. I quickly learned that all I could do with a BA course was become a teacher so I swapped to a more vocational course which combined some technical drawing as well. I had a taster of jewellery work too and nearly went into that. But yes, my career has been based on ‘art’ (or more accurately ‘design’).
Wow, DT, St Ives is world famous. Must have been amazing to be involved with them.
I had a fantastic teacher at school (Mr Hill) who encouraged me.
I'm very impressed.
The talent on AB is amazing.
There is an artist and a novelist inside me fighting to get out, but sadly only the slob has escaped :-(
God loves a trier, Theland ;-)
Excellent!

Give it a go, Theland - I find both disciplines quite meditative in nature - can lose hours gainfully!
