A lot of the dialogue has been (understandably) updated - don't worry, the kids still sound like WWII evacuees, but they're not as "jolly hockey sticks" as in the books. There are a few added scenes, mainly in the battle (this happens primarily "off page" in the book) but the only jarring scene is a chase on a frozen river which seems to be there to up the "action quotient" and to provide a level for the inevitable video game.
If you love the book as an adult, and can let out your inner child to see the movie, I think you'll love it too!
P.S. ******* was actually the first book written (TMN was the last but one Lewis wrote) and is the most well-known, hence it is the one they've made first. It actually makes sense to film first, as some of the mysterious stuff in ******* is explained in TMN.
