This is probably James Herriott, who took his name from the Scotland gk Jim Herriott.
After further research: It's definitely James Herriot. Though with only one 't'.

No probs Jane. It wasn't any trouble - Jim Herriot played for the team I support (Birmingham) and I remember James Herriot telling how he got his name when he was on 'Down Your Way' from Thirsk years ago.
