painting: is it any good/or worth anything?

Because of death - I have been given a painting of a seascape. Its an oil (canvas is about30 x 40cm and the frame another 10cm) and shows a battle between british galleons and maybe spanish. The painter looks like P.Monamy and is signed in the bottom left. On the back is Higgins and Bowers Tower bridge Road London. Can anyone help?
