It's that time of year when I enjoy a travelogue,  written by a witty raconteur who endures hardships and joy along the way.  Long distance journey, meeting interesting people and different cultures.

i like tony james' series.

It's reasonably light, and cheap

I really enjoyed "A Fez of the Heart: Travels Around Turkey in Search of a Hat" by Jeremy Seal

I think I've read all of Bill Bryson, an easy read ideal for bedtime

This is not a travelogue...rather it is a memoir of a way of life. I put it on my wishlist after reading a sample.
