I am currently doing an essay where I have to give the similarities and differences between the poems 'Half-Caste' by John Agard and 'Search for my Tongue' by Sujata Bhatt but am a bit stuck with ideas. Could someone please give me some ideas or even give me a starter please? Thankyou in advance for your time and effort. :-)

Start by planning with a simple chart: sort out clear similarities in one column and the differences between the poems in another. You need to focus on themes, use of language and imagery, humour and structure among other things. Then pick out some short, relevant quotes to back up the points. Next, make a rough plan outlining your essay - what's going in the intro, etc.- then write!
