Altering surroundings to conform to an artistic vision is what happens all the time; that's what landscape gardeners and ordinary gardeners, and architects and ordinary people do in their gardens and towns and homes.

Painter paints his garden but thinks it looks better without the tree. Likes his painting, and decides that the garden would look better without it.
