How come there is always enough manpower and tarmac to build speed humps but never enough of either to fill potholes??

We don't have any speed bumps around here - just holes in the road that serve the same purpose!  They force us to drive at a snail's pace.  😂

Haha @  15.53. The council around here put up "Temperary Road Surface" signs, some have been there for so long they have gone rusty. We call our town "Dodge City".

Plus they call it traffic calming when the make their obstacle courses. Doesn't calm me down much at all.

The things that we loosely refer to as "roads" round here are shocking. Periodically, the Council turn up and fill some of the holes with a kind of loose tarmac mixture. This dissipates within a few weeks - mainly stuck to our cars.

There is a massive "pit" just up the road. Council turned up. Turns out they were there to remove the stones the resident opposite had put on their lawn in front of their house to prevent drivers chewing up the lawn to avoid the pothole.

I've heard on the grapevine a council is sorting out potholes when residents are incorporating a pothole into spraypainted male genitalia. :))

Steady, East Lothian council are still repairing the walkways around Cockburnspath.
