Restoring Vintage Art Print

Hi,

I have acquired a vintage Tretchikoff print (Balinese Girl) but unfortunately, it is badly nicotine stained. I tried cleaning one of these types of prints (60s on board) and ruined it completely. Can anyone please advise?

Cotton bud and spit seems to be the way, test it first

If you have ruined the print completely surely you can only write it off now ?

You should start with the least invasive material - water, and if necessary progress with stronger applications.

Try using a barely damp ball of white cotton wool on the edge and see if it stains the cotton wool. If not, try again adding a small amount of detergent, if no joy, add a little white vinegar.

Progress gently and slowly and as dryly as possible.

I used the johnk method on a hundred-year old oil on wood painting, and it worked fine. I don't know about a print.
