Fiction book 1970's 1980's about a royal assassination
3 Answers
Im trying to find a book that I read back in the late 70's early 80's about a girl who married into the royal family in england. She was blown up whilst riding her horse in hyde park and it was blamed on the IRA or similar. However at the end of the book it becaomes clear that she was tipped off about the assassination attempt and she swapped places with someone and fled the country, the royals beleiving her to be dead. When her husband finally died and her son/daughter came to the throne she came back to england. DOES THIS RING ANY BELLS WITH ANYONE??

I think you and I are the only two people who have ever read it!! I thought about it when Diana died!
I don't recall the part about her coming back after her husband, Bunny, died or her son coming to the throne. I thought she just ran away to USA with her bodyguard.
