Info on the back of a book

Hello. I got a new book yesterday, and it has this on the back:

J MAMJJASOND/05

I have already figured that these are the months of the year, but why is February missing? Does it mean it was published in Feb? It seems a bit of an odd way round to do things if that's the case.
