I have a Master degree in Visual Culture so i may be able to help.
Put very simply it is the discipline that looks at all non written communication.
This encompasses Film, Television, Photography, Fine Art and even Architecture and Fashion.
Its not very complicated i can assure you but it does get a bit complicated when you get to the analysis stage where you have to deconstruct texts and forms and explain things like motivation and consumption.
because it covers such a wide range of subjects its difficult to give you examples but essentially it can pretty much cover everything that you look at!
I suggest you look at some course descriptions for Visual Culture degrees and that may explain it better and more comprehensively.
