What's the best book you've ever read? I'm looking for inspiration as to what to read next!

His hero is a tough guy ex military policeman called Jack Reacher who tries to his hardest to mind his own business but always gets dragged into scrapes. I think I've read all of them (on his latest now) but for me the best was one called "Die trying."
I also enjoyed "Rainbow Six" by Tom Clancey and "Fist of God" by Frederick Forsyth.
Oh yeah, I meant to add that my wife used to read romantic mush (Mills and Boon) all the time till one day she read the first few pages of my first Lee Child novel (The Persuader).
Even though I was about 70 pages into it she was hooked and begged me to let her read it first! She now reads action/thriller/detective books constantly.
My favourite book of all times is Bulgakov's Master and Margarita.
