part of Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift was like this, but not the whole book, so I don't know if it's what you're after.
he got the inspiration for the book whilst staying in Whitehaven in Cumbria.
i have been there and if I had written it it would have been called 'Boyracer hell'
...the humanoids being the Yahoos and the horses the Houyhnhnms (had to check the spelling on that one - always assumed that it is some phonetic sort of neigh!)
Was the country in "Gullivers Travels" called Brobdignag ?
Brobdingnag (& I had to check the spelling for that one too!) was the land of the giants in G'S Ts....

Hence the perfectly accepatable adjective 'Brobdignagian', to describe someone or something larger than usual, eg ' a man of Brobdignagian proportions'. Use it in a a conversation and impress your friends!

I'd be even more impressed if I heard somone use 'Houyhnhnmian'!
