Writing reviews/columns in mags or newspapers

Does anyone know how I can get my reviews published? One of my mates just suggested posting them continuously to a mag as one of her mates did for a year before finally getting offered a job!

Get a copy of the Writers Year Book - find the relevant publishers to the topic involved (mags, periodicals, subscription only titles etc) - see if they accept unsolicited manuscripts - send copy.

if you're reviewing films or popular music, there'll be competition, which means you'll have to be good. You might be best trying to get yourself published in a smaller publication (specialist magazine? local paper?) then using the work you've had printed as a way of approaching bigger ones.
