Southampton Oil Paintings
4 Answers
I have acquired two oil / canvas paintings of what apear to be Southampton Avenue around 1850, but we are not certain. They are both signed by what looks like H.McKeon and are rather splendid. The only definate thiings we know is that they were purchased in Bognor art centre just after the war and have been proffessionally re-framed. I would appreciate any info. and have digital pictures if anybody wants a look.

He'd bought a job lot from the estate of someone and asked me to find out if there were any that were either interesting or valuable. They were both about 12 inches by 18 inches and each showed a slightly different view. The only information I could find out at the time was that he was a local artist and I think that Bognor Museum had a painting by him too of a very similar view. At the time the small paintings were valued by an art dealer in Havant at about 140 each for insurance purposes. I'm certain this is the artist you're referring to, but I'm sorry I can't cast any more light.
