It's already happened, the Deep Purple line up on Made in Japan sheer class what an album!
The line up was Ian Gillan vocals,Richie Blackmore lead guitar, Roger Glover bass,Jon Lord keyboards,Ian paice drums, different gravy
Omar Hakim on lead drums, Adam Nussbaum on rhythm drums, Victor Bailey on lead bass, Larry Graham on rhythm bass, Vernon Reid on rhythm guitar, Graham Coxon on backing rhythm guitar, Adrian Belew on lead guitar, Thelonious Monk on piano, Andy Partridge on harmonica, Bill Bruford on 3rd part harmony drums maybe Norah Jones (singing in French) and Derek Guyler on washboard. Not bad.
Back from the pub and I've seen the error of my ways... John Bonham on kit, Jamie Jamerson on bass (although I argued strongly for Norman Watt-Roy), The Edge on rhythm guitar, Eddie van Halen on lead guitar, Fats Waller on keys, Stevie Wonder on harp, Paul Rodgers on vox1, The King on vox2, Marvin Gaye on vox3 with the Tower of Power brass section. Even I would pay to see that!
