I am auditioning for an amatuer production of "Cats" and I want to audition for one of two roles.

One of the roles is Rumtumtugger and I was after the name of the other cat.

Recently I watched the first 45 mins of the dvd version and the cat in question is definitely in it a fair amount.

He almost seems to be a narrator of sorts and he definitely has solo lines, if not an entire song (can't remember now.)

He seems about the same age and has the same physical attributes as Rumtumtugger if that helps.

Any ideas on what this cat is called?

Thanks for your time. Peter.

There's a lot of info about the show here, including a list of principal characters:

hope it helps and good luck with the audition.

I'd check that the director has actually secured the rights to perform it - I wasn't aware that amateur rights to Cats had been released.

It's not worth going ahead without the licence incidentally - there have been some very messy lawsuits in the past!

The amatuer rights have only just become available (in Australia anyway) and this will be the amatuer premier here.

sorry that should be: http://www.cloc.org.au/
The one you're after is Munkustrap, I think, played by Michael Gruber in the video version.

I think you are right - thanks!
