Holiday reads

I'm sure this will have been asked thousands of times but here goes...!

I'm wanting two really good books to take on holiday this month!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm wanting a modern book preferably chick lit, comedy etc something unputdownable but light easy reading!

Douglas Coupland. Either "Girlfriend on a coma" or "all families are psychotic" are both excellent books and very easy to read.

THE ISLAND by Victoria Hyslop wife of Ian Hyslop a first novel for her she is a journalist . The Bridges of Madison County. much better than the film, The Notebook

I really enjoyed 'To the Baltic with Bob' by Griff Rhys Jones. (I only bought it to make up the numbers with WH Smith's 'buy one - get one half price offer'. I didn't expect much from it but I discovered that GRJ is an excellent writer).

I just read Dead Famous by Ben Elton - a murder in the Big Brother house. Seems to satisfy your requirements!

Didnt enjoy Dead Famous. Good premise but charaters didn't seem very well thought out - perhaps deliberate given the BB basis but not as good as earlier novels of his IMHO

Suzyboo - I agree, not his best (Gridlock IMO), but topical, and I still enjoyed it.

I'm with you Suzyboo I loved Stark and liked Gridlock but dont like his newer books and wasnt keen on Dead Famous.

How about some thing for the week end by Pauline Mclynn. She is the lady that plays mrs doyle in father ted. It was really funny and made me laugh.

A short history of tractors in Ukranian. can't remember the author, but v. good, quite amusing, female protagonist(s)/perspective(s)
