'Trainspotting' ... the book

Has anybody read the book Trainspotting? I personally think it's better than film...

Not an easy film to watch ..much preferred the book.
Dark reading and once you get through the dialect and phonetic spellings well worth it.
The characters jump off the pages .. more so than in the film and no matter how dire it is you find yourself laughing yet it shocks you.
I think the film dumbs the book down somehow.I've never been a fan of books that are made into films anyway and have seen very few that are true to the book .

Aren't all books better than their films?
People usually say that when they've read the book first and are usually critical of the film version.

I'd agree with Ganesh, I've read an awful lot of books and seen an awful lot of films and am yet to see an adaptation which tops the original.

I'd agree with the "most books are better than the film" thing on the whole, but what about Blade Runner? Surely it's much better than the book it came from "Do robots dream of electric sheep".

You are right, guys, while reading a book u subconsciously create ur own film, and its most often better than a director's version. I quite liked 'The Shining' though, 'One flew over the cukoo's nest' film version was, in my opinion, a disaster.
