My late mother used to whisper the following lines to us as children in bed as she wished us goodnight -
"Good Night, God Bless You, Go to bed and undress you, Good Night Sweet Repose, Half the bed and all the clothes".
I have always remembered them and in the last few days of her life I whispered the last two lines to her as she lay in bed.
I have often wondered where these lines came from, presumably from a poem. I would very much like to know their origin. Can anyone help please?

Hi Carliol, that's a very gentle memory to have. Sorry I can't help you a whole lot, but it does seem to have something to do with Mother Goose. It's number 446 on this Japanese page. But what it is, what is HNR? Some kind of classification system would be my guess. A librarian would know.
