Many thanks jno. You are certainly close in terms of the style but after much research it appears to by David Hockney after the 18th century Hogarth painting 'Bedlam' in a series entitled A Rakes Progress. I shall know on Saturdy
when the ft is published! Many thanks again.
wow, wouldn't have guessed that... but reproduction in the FT tends not to be very sharp, is my only excuse.

Thanks for your comment jno. Can I hasten to add that mine is still a guess, with help from the local library , and
we shall see tomorrow! I agree the ft reproduction is poor and the Rake himself looks like a younger debauched version of our chancellor Gordon Brown! There could be a moral!..
