There's 'I'm Off' by Jean Echenoz, winner of the 1999 Prix Goncour, and translated from the French. But this one isn't an autobiography, it's a novel of art world intrigue blended with modern urban life. Comparable to Martin Amis' writing, some say.
Is it Richard Whiteley, the title being a shortened version of "'im off the telly"?
I'm sure it's Richard Whiteley's "Himoff!", derived as marwel7 says.
